Welcome

The East Asian International Relations (EAIR) Caucus is a network of researchers who share an interest in studying scholarly and policy issues related to contemporary inter-state interactions in Southeast and Northeast Asia. As a meeting-of-minds platform, the Caucus aspires to serve as a hub for connecting researchers, a host for cultivating expert view exchanges, and a home for empowering the next generation of IR and area specialists. Since August 2014, the EAIR has conducted a wide range of activities to foster these goals. These include a forum series featuring top-notch scholars from around the world (e.g. ANU, British Columbia, Delaware, Johns Hopkins, LSE, NUS, George Washington, Stanford), several roundtables and joint programs (e.g. a symposium on IR theory, in collaboration with the Seoul National University), as well as research projects exploring various aspects of regional affairs. Research areas include regional institutionalism, ASEAN and ASEAN-based multilateralism, asymmetric relations, non-traditional security issues, the political economies of East Asian states, Southeast Asia-Northeast Asia linkages, as well as theoretical efforts to better understand these issue areas.
