Associate Professor Dr. Adam Leong Kok Wey is the current Head of Department of Strategic Studies, Faculty of Defence Studies and Management, National Defence University of Malaysia. Dr. Leong also lectures at the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MTAT) and has held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford (2015-2016). Dr Leong lectures on these subjects: Introduction to Strategic Studies, Strategic Thought, War and Conflict, Malaysia’s Foreign Relations, Development of Air Power, and Major Powers in Asia and Regional Security. His research interests also coincide with the subjects he teaches. He has also held the prestigious “Australia-Malaysia Towards 2020 Fellowship” at the University of New South Wales, Australia in 2014.Dr. Leong holds a PhD in strategic studies from the University of Reading and has published numerous articles on strategy, special operations, underwater warfare and naval strategy, air power, intelligence, small states’ foreign affairs strategy, and geo-strategy in The RUSI Journal, Comparative Strategy, Australian Journal of Maritime and Ocean Affairs, The Diplomat, Journal of Intelligence History and The East Asia Forum. His most recent book is Killing the Enemy! Assassination operations during World War II (London: IB Tauris, 2015).
